July 20th/21st 2002 - Wallis Day at Shipdham Airfield in Norfolk.

Wing Commander Kenneth Wallis is perhaps most famous for building and flying 'Little Nellie' - the autogyro in the Bond film 'You Only Live Twice'. The British Rotor Craft Association regularly hold 'Wallis Days' at airfields around the country, to show off autogyros to the general public.

This event was very near Mr Wallis' home, and there was a stream of convoys from Shipdham to his house to visit his hanger, containing 20 or so examples of autogyros that he has built.

The culmination of Saturday was a 2 hour chat during which Mr Wallis presented essentially his life story - and damned interesting it was too. If you ever get a chance to attend a Wallis Day, I heartily recommend it.

As always, clicking on any of the photos below will take you to a larger version.
